On Thursday, February 18th, during parent teacher conferences, two representatives from American Family Insurance, Renais Bough and Tom Walker, came to Jefferson High and presented us with a check for $900 and a chance to win even more money.
JHS was chosen along with 400 other schools to compete for a grand prize of up to $25,000 for the school, which we could definitely use. The grand prize money will be awarded to the school with the highest percentage of students who sign up for a teen safe drivng pledge. Having a small school gives us a distinctive advantage.
If we can get the majority of the students and their parents to sign-up, then I’d say we have a pretty good chance of winning. If nothing else we could walk home with the runner-up prize of $10,000 or $5,000 for third place.
This is an effort by American family Insurance to promote safety while behind the wheel for teens, and just responsible driving in general for everyone. By pledging, you promise to make to roads safer as a whole. Also they hope to raise awareness about the dangers while driving, for example road conditions and awareness of bicylist and pedestrians.
Please consider making your contribution to the school and take the pledge along with your parents. Together we can make some money for the school. Sign up today at http://www.teensafedriver.com/

I was just thinking, it would be nice if the pictures and videos were a bit larger…I just wanted to see the #’s on this check!
Food for thought.
