It was the night that seniors were no longer students; they became graduates.  JHS graduated 112 members of the class of 2010 at Boettcher Concert Hall, Monday night, May 24th.

Mr. Little welcomed the guests and discussed the formality of the occasion.  Keynote speaker, Mrs. Cindy Jones told parents that she enjoyed teaching these graduates.  She quoted Dr. Suess as an inspirations, “You have brains in your head, you have feet in your shoes, you can steer yourself any direction you choose.  You’re on your own and you know what you know, and you will be the guy who’ll decide where you’ll go.”

Valedictorian Diana Romero thanked both her parents, in English and in Spanish.  She menitoned how the graduates lives would be changing.  “No more early classes, no more music from Ms. Jones or bad jokes from Mr. Erickson.”  Diana shared how hard the struggle was to get to this point and how she’d always dreamed of giving this speech.  She told her classmates to follow their dreams.

Class president, Jessica Palma spoke to the class about how they are now going into the real world and they have many choices to make.  Carlos Reyes, Salutatorian, used the analogy of a soccer game in his speech: you are around a lot of people, there is always a play to make, a play to make better and life is full of many games.

Dr. Cindy Stevenson, Superintendent, spoke about how proud she was of Jefferson and said that the Saints are full of knowledge, grace, intellect and courage.

Before Mr. Dave Thomas, School Board President, accepted the class of 2010, he said that the board has been watching JHS and is very proud of the forward progress we are making.
